Continuing international expansion: new regional subsidiary
Stiebel Eltron India Private Limited
The Stiebel Eltron Group has established an Indian subsidiary together with a local partner. Stiebel Eltron India Private Limited has its headquarters in Pune, a city south-east of Mumbai with a population of six million. Pune is regarded as the hub for German industry in India and is an important university city. Group managing director Dr Nicholas Matten and Sandeep Surana, who is based in India, will assume management of the subsidiary. Six further staff will be employed to start with at the Indian subsidiary of the German specialist for heating technology, which is pursuing its course of internationalisation with this addition.
“There is no such thing as the Indian climate”, explains Dr Nicholas Matten. “On the contrary, the subcontinent is influenced by four climate zones: subtropical on the east coast and in the south, Mediterranean on the west coast with humid summer months, a desert climate with hot days and cold nights in the centre and the west, and lastly the Himalayan climate in the north with extremely cold temperatures.” Initially the business will concentrate on solutions for hot water – single-phase and three-phase instantaneous water heaters, small water heaters, wall-mounted and free-standing cylinders and heat pumps for domestic hot water. Distributed ventilation with heat recovery and air filtration are also to be included in view of the poor air quality, for instance in New Delhi. Depending on the region, the heat exchanger function will be used for cooling as well. “In the long term, we also intend to market heat pumps for space heating in colder regions”, says Dr Matten.
The regional subsidiary will announce its official launch at the Acetech trade fair, together with one of the new partners, which ranks among the top 20 distributors in India and has an extensive network across the country.
